Review in a sentence: A crazy story where we see even more wealth and extravagance, with a lot of gossip from the richest people in Asia.

Book:

Author: Kevin Kwan

Goodreads Review: 3.83 (April 2021)

Pages: 573

Genre: Fiction/Contemporary

On the eve of her wedding to Nicholas Young, heir to one of the greatest fortunes in Asia, Rachel should be over the moon. She has a flawless Asscher-cut diamond from JAR, a wedding dress she loves more than anything found in the salons of Paris, and a fiance willing to sacrifice his entire inheritance in order to marry her. But Rachel still mourns the fact that her birthfather, a man she never knew, won't be able to walk her down the aisle. Until: a shocking revelation draws Rachel into a world of Shanghai splendor beyond anything she has ever imagined. Here we meet Carlton, a Ferrari-crashing bad boy known for Prince Harry-like antics; Colette, a celebrity girlfriend chased by fevered paparazzi; and the man Rachel has spent her entire life waiting to meet: her father. Meanwhile, Singapore's It Girl, Astrid Leong, is shocked to discover that there is a downside to having a newly minted tech billionaire husband. A romp through Asia's most exclusive clubs, auction houses, and estates, China Rich Girlfriendbrings us into the elite circles of Mainland China, introducing a captivating cast of characters, and offering an inside glimpse at what it's like to be gloriously, crazily, China-rich.

World:

This world is completely without borders. These people are not just normal rich, they come from the most powerful and important Families in Hongkong, Peking, Singapur and Shanghai. Just going on vacation in Paris on your private jet and buying whole designer shops empty. Is completely normal for them.

Characters:

In this book the characters didn't had a really important role and I had just the feeling they were little add ones for the world. Still I liked them and the new characters introduced were totally crazy, but also really fun to read about. Still sometimes they were full of emotions which I really enjoyed.

Plot:

We had a solid plot, but sometimes it was little bit in the background to show off the world, which was sometimes fun but could have been better, but so even as a reread it doesn't get boring.

Writing:

The writing style is really easy and makes an important part of this book. I think if it wasn't that easy and fun it would be really boring sometimes, but with this style you just can't put it down.
